Position Title: Local Sales Manager

Requirements:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience in Media Sales or in a related area with a high volume of sales, and management.
  2. A high degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  3. Excellent organizational skills and discipline, as well as negotiating skills.
  4. Ability to create advertising proposals and exercise excellent presentation skills. 
  5. Ample knowledge of radio broadcast sales tools, such as Arbitron rating numbers, Maximiser, Scarborough Research, and Tapscan, including the use of formulas in sales proposals and presentations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manages and services local metro area radio advertising Account Executives.   
  2. Assists the A/E’s to present and negotiate local sales and marketing programs for the purposes of increasing profits.
  3. Assures that the rates being provided are within station guidelines, and the contracts being processed do not conflict with any other clients or legal mandates. 
  4. Assists the A/E’s in maintaining relationships and favorable contacts on a regular basis with current and potential accounts.
  5. Guides A/E’s in targeting potential local advertisers and develops relationships in order to acquire new accounts.
  6. Familiar with standard sales concepts, practices, and procedures within the sales field.
  7. Relies on experience and judgment to plan their strategy to accomplish assigned budgets.
  8. Performs a variety of tasks, such using computer terminal, and other word processors, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Integrated Radio System, Tapscan, Arbitron Maximazer, and e-mail.
  9. Approves all corresponding local sales contracts.  Assures data within insertion order agrees to that of the sales contract.   Authorizes rate breakdown on Package Deal contracts.
  10. Assures that when necessary, any spots that need to be “made good” are followed up on accordingly and approved by the clients.
  11. Reviews the daily “Avail Report” as well as any over-sold dayparts.  Authorizes the bumping of spots during oversold dayparts.  This authorization assures that the Local Sales Manager has evaluated the consequences of not airing a spot in relation to the others, all in the best interest of the stations.
  12. Reviews the “Contract Verification Report” listing all bumped spots and assures each A/E follows up with the bumped advertiser, so that revenues are not lost. 
  13. Supervises Account Executives, and the Administrative Assistant Supervisor, reviewing and evaluating the work and performance these positions.
  14. Responsible for ensuring compliance with established corporate standards
  15. Monitors the market stations to keep informed on what advertisers are doing in competitive stations.
  16. Works under the general supervision of the General Sales Manager, and General Manager.

This position offers unlimited earning potential for the right self motivated / highly driven individual. A successful Account Executive will cold call, make and attend appointments and close sales. Excellent communication skills, networking skills, and outstanding customer service skills are required; along with a proven record of success achieving / exceeding sales targets and goals. Must posses a valid driver's license, own automobile, and auto insurance. Bilingual in Spanish and English not required, but helpful. Compensation commensurate with experience and is based on draw against commissions.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Responsible for representing Spanish Language radio station 93.3FM KRZZ "La Raza" with local advertisers and advertising agencies in a professional manner. Qualified candidate should be an aggressive, highly motivated individual who will be responsible for selling commercial airtime, event sponsorships, and marketing campaigns entailing research, promotions, copywriting, servicing, new business development, and collecting for station clients. Candidates should possess excellent people skills and working knowledge of general Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
