Board Operator

Position Summary

Performs activities in the radio studio and control room to ensure technical quality of sound for programs origination in
the studio from syndication or from remote pickup points.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Broadcast & Board Operations

    • Technical Execution: Operate the studio control board and digital audio consoles for both in-studio and remote programming, ensuring premium technical sound quality.

    • Logistics & Programming: Regulate program timing, execute scheduled programming, and seamlessly integrate commercial playback.

    • Automation Management: Input and update time-sensitive weather, traffic, and news reports into automation equipment.

    • Production Support: Provide off-air support for commercial production, including dubbing music to hard disks and configuring automation computers.

    • On-Air Performance: Execute on-air announcements or complete scheduled broadcasting shifts as assigned.

    • Compliance: Take regular transmitter readings and accurately maintain transmitter logs in accordance with regulations.

    Promotions, Events & Marketing Support

    • Event Lifecycle Management: Oversee and execute trade shows and promotional events from inception to completion to ensure overall success; manage and assist with remote appearances.

    • Logistics & Inventory: Responsible for inventory management, including the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of promotional displays at event locations.

    • Strategy & Collaboration: Develop and manage event promotion strategies in close alignment with management objectives; advise leadership on effective marketing strategies.

    • Team Leadership: Train and develop new team members on event execution and promotional standards.

    • Communication: Maintain regular, clear, and efficient communication across departments to streamline event and broadcast operations.

Essential duties and responsibilities are those most important or most frequently performed duties.  Employees will be required to perform other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Fully Bilingual in Spanish
  • Operate audio console board, digital automation equipment, reel-to-reel, CD player,
    remote broadcasting equipment, computer and general office equipment
  • Good organizational and time management skills and ability to work without direct
    supervision
  • Ability to work evening, overnight and weekends

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions to perform this job successfully.

Physical Requirements

Work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
