Position Summary

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Sales Manager (GSM) to lead revenue growth and sales strategy for its New York stations. The GSM will oversee and manage local and national sales teams, guide Account Executives in developing new business opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and drive integrated advertising solutions across radio, digital, streaming, events, and multimedia platforms.

This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with strong sales management experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly competitive media environment. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of exceeding revenue goals, developing high-performing sales teams, and building strong partnerships within the New York advertising market.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage Local and National Account Executives and Sales Managers to maximize revenue performance.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed station revenue goals across radio, digital, streaming, and integrated marketing platforms.
  • Guide sales teams in prospecting, developing, and securing new business opportunities while strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and executive leadership on pricing strategies, inventory management, and revenue forecasting.
  • Ensure station pricing and sales packages align with market conditions, ratings performance, and revenue objectives.
  • Assist Account Executives in preparing and negotiating advertising proposals, sponsorships, and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key advertisers, agencies, and community partners throughout the New York market.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and advertising opportunities to identify areas for revenue growth.
  • Review contracts, avail reports, and sales documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper execution.
  • Work closely with Programming, Promotions, Digital, and Traffic departments to support campaign execution and client satisfaction.
  • Develop quarterly and annual sales budgets and performance goals for the sales team.
  • Analyze sales reports, revenue pacing, and market data to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Coach and motivate team members through ongoing training, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Resolve client issues and escalations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Represent SBS at industry events, networking functions, client meetings, and community events as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent media sales experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales management experience with a proven track record in radio, television, digital media, or integrated advertising sales.
  • Strong leadership and team-building experience with demonstrated success in driving revenue growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong understanding of media research and sales tools including Nielsen, Scarborough, Tapscan, Media Monitors, and related industry platforms.
  • Experience managing local and national advertising accounts and agency relationships.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and forecasting skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements

This position primarily involves sedentary work, including extended periods of sitting and computer use, with occasional standing, walking, and attendance at client meetings or events. Occasional lifting of materials up to 10 pounds may be required.
